Summer band

• Summer rehearsals typically begin towards the end of July.  Dates and times will be communicated ahead of time via Presto Assistant
• Students NEED to be on the field with their instrument and ready to begin rehearsal at the start time.  Please plan to have your student there no later than 15 minutes before start.
• Rehearsals last all the way until end time. Only once formally dismissed will the students then make their way back to the band hall to put away equipment and instruments.  This can take some added time, so please be patient and be prepared that pick-up time will be a bit after the official end-time.

• Athletic clothing that allows freedom of movement; hats, sunglasses (lighter colors are best!)
• Sunscreen, and lots of it!
• Your instrument and accessories (tuner, reeds, valve oil, etc.)
• 1" 3-ring binder with plastic sheet protectors
• A pencil
• A ½-gallon plastic water jug (this is what will fit into your water jug holder when they arrive, if you don't already have one) 
• Not required, but some students like to bring an extra change of clothes and freshening-up supplies such as deodorant, extra hair ties, etc.

• Have your student gather their gear the night before so it's an easy grab and go.  This reduces the early morning scramble.  
• It is HOT.  Encourage your student to drink plenty of water before, during and even after practice.  Hydration is key.
• We highly recommend NO DAIRY products for breakfast. Dairy + Exercising + Heat can lead to an upset stomach.  Do have them eat a light breakfast. Focus on low-fiber, high-carb and moderate-protein foods such as bananas with nut butter, toast with eggs, overnight oats with fruit.

At the conclusion of summer rehearsal, there'll be a parent night.  This will give your student a chance to show off their hard work and give you a chance to take a moment to "march in their shoes" and really appreciate all that they've learned.
